BC Cup 3 & U13 Championships Cancelled. Alternative Spring Event Announcement.

It is with great difficulty that Biathlon BC has decided to cancel BC Cup #3 (Feb 20-21) and the BC U13 Championships (Mar 13-14). Current travel restrictions and the uncertainty surrounding exactly when we’ll be able to travel for provincial races have made planning for these races not possible.

Biathlon BC would like to thank the Cariboo Ski Touring Club, Caledonia Nordic Ski Club, Nechako Nordics Ski Club and Sea to Sky Nordics for all the work they put into planning for their competitions. While the 2020-21 BC Cup circuit has been cancelled by COVID-19, Biathlon BC is looking forward to the 2021-22 competitions season.

With the cancellation of the remaining races, we would like to remind everyone in our biathlon community that ski trails are in excellent condition all over the province, and the season is far from over. Biathlon BC is planning on hosting a spring Biathlon event for athletes in the Jr B/G, Senior B/G and Youth M/W categories in Whistler from March 22nd to 28th. More details to come in mid February, so we ask that you hold the date.

Additionally, Biathlon Canada and Nordiq Canada are running several challenges and we would encourage everyone to take part in them.

  • Biathlon Canada’s National “At Home Challenge” is a series of shooting and skiing challenges open to athletes from all over the country.
  • Biathlon Canada’s Creative Covid Challenge involves a different challenge each week for athletes to pursue.
  • Nordiq Canada is challenging Canadians to ski as far as they can this winter with the Nordic Distance Challenge
  • Biathlon BC Head Coach Jessica Blenkarn will be sending out details regarding a series of Biathlon BC challenges for clubs to participate in.

Please continue to stay healthy and strong!
