2023 BC Winter Games – Athlete Eligibility Update
Due to the rescheduling of the BC Winter Games in Vernon to 2023, Biathlon BC has decided to expand the age requirements for this event.
For the 2023 BC Winter Games, athletes born in 2007, 2008 and 2009 will be eligible to compete.
The competitions at the BC Winter Games will use the rules for Junior Boys and Girls as set out in the Biathlon BC Hosting Policy and the BC Winter Games Technical Package, which will be updated shortly.
Each zone will need to run a trials event for athletes to qualify for the 2023 BC Winter Games.
We are currently looking for a new Provincial Advisor who will be the contact for all things related to BC Winter Games.
Seeking a dedicated volunteer for the position of BC Winter Games Provincial Advisor
Biathlon BC expresses its gratitude to Tim Roots, who has served as the Provincial Advisor for biathlon for the BC Winter Games for several years. Tim is stepping down and we are seeking a volunteer to act as Provincial Advisor for the BC Winter Games for 2023, 2024 and beyond!
The Provincial Advisor is the liaison between the BC Games Society and Biathlon BC. The Provincial Advisor is the key contact for the sport regarding eligibility, BC Games rules, and Technical Package interpretations. They are also responsible for the overall registration of athletes and coaches for the Games.
The Provincial Advisor, in coordination with the Provincial Coach and Technical Director and the Operations Manager, will work with clubs in all 8 BC Winter Games zones to ensure that zone representatives are named, trials are held, and coaches and athletes are selected to compete at the BC Winter Games.
The Provincial Advisor is expected to attend the BC Winter Games in person. The 2023 BC Winter Games will be in Vernon on March 23-26 and the 2024 BC Winter Games will be in Quesnel on February 22-25.
If you would like to be involved in the development of young athletes and club coaches throughout BC, and are interested in the role of Provincial Advisor, please contact office@biathlonbc.ca for more information.
