Individuals must register with Biathlon BC in order to participate in biathlon activities organized by clubs, such as programs, training camps and competitions.
The current registration year is April 1, 2016 to March 31, 2017. Club and Individual registrations are now available through Biathlon Canada – click here.
Here are the details about the classes of registered participants that are available, and the privileges of each class.
An athlete registration provides full privileges for training and competing in Biathlon BC. It includes a license to compete in all biathlon competitions in North America, and is required in order to be eligible for Biathlon BC Camps and Teams.
Athletes may enter into the competitive categories at a BC Cup, and are eligible to receive BC Cup points.
There are three categories of Athlete registrations:
- Junior Boy/Girl and younger is for athletes ages 14 and under (as of December 31, 2016). A 2016/2017 Athlete registration for Junior Boy/Girl and younger is $70;
- Senior Boy/Girl and older is for athletes ages 15-34 (as of December 31, 2016) A 2016/2017 Athlete registration for Senior Boy/Girl and older is $110; and
- Masters is for athletes ages 35 and older (as of December 31, 2016). A 2016/2017 Athlete registration for Masters is $110.
Recreational Athlete – $20
A Recreational Athlete registration is required for biathlon training, and for participation in non-competitive events such as recreational races and demonstration days.
Recreational Athletes ages 8-12 (as of December 31, 2016) may participate in the Midget and Juvenile categories at a BC Cup. Otherwise, Recreational Athlete members can only participate in a BC Cup in a Recreational category.
Recreational Athletes are not eligible to receive BC Cup points, regardless of what category they participate in.
A 2016/2017 Recreational Athlete registration is $20.
Coach – $15
A coach registration is required in order to undertake biathlon coaching activities.
With a coach registration you can also participate in non-competitive events such as recreational races and demonstration days, and participate in the Recreational category at a BC Cup event.
A coach registration does not provide a competition license to enter into the competitive categories at a BC Cup.
A 2016/2017 Coach registration is $15.
Officials – $10
An officials registration provides insurance to undertake biathlon officiating activities, and provides support for the sport of biathlon in BC and Canada.
A 2016/2017 Officials registration is $10.
Supporter/Volunteer – $10
A supporter/volunteer registration provides insurance to undertake biathlon volunteering activities, and provides support for the sport of biathlon in BC and Canada. A 2016/2017 Supporter/Volunteer registration is $10.
