Ministry of Education updated the External Sport Credit Program

High School Athletes can now earn credits for being an athlete or being a coach:

The External Sport Credentials Program is jointly administered and monitored by the Ministry of Community, Sport & Cultural Development, Sport Branch and the Ministry of Education.

Coach Level 1

Sport-Specific NCCP Community Sport or Instruction – Beginner Trained Course:

  • NCCP Biathlon Community Coach – Certified Gold Coach
  • NCCP Make Ethical Decisions training and online evaluation
  • Requires 30 hrs of coaching experience

Coach Level 2

Competition Introduction Sport Technical Training Course:

  • NCCP Biathlon Competition – Introduction Certified
  • Requires 30 hrs of coaching experience

Athlete Level 1 UXSA 10 (4 credits)

  • Selected to BC Winter Games

Athlete Level 2 UXSA 11 (4 credits)

  • Selected to Biathlon BC’s Development Squad
  • Must compete at Western Championships or National Championships

Athlete Level 3 UXSA 12 (4 credits)

  • Must compete at national championships
  • Selected to Canada Winter Games Team
  • Selected to Biathlon BC’s High Performance Squad
  • Selected to Biathlon Canada Training Teams
  • Selected to Biathlon Canada World Youth Championships Team
  • Receives Sport Canada AAP

Updates will be applied for the 2023-24 School year (not retroactive to last season)
